This site is my personal webpage, mainly consisting of a blog. When I get time, I will add more things, like a photo album.
I am Anders Ahlström, a 16 year old Finnish geek who likes programming and photography. I started programming Flash games in ActionScript2.0 when I was 11, but I don’t develop such any more. I have done application development, but am moving towards systems programming. My favorite programming languages are C and Python, though I am familiar with Scheme, x86 Assembly and Java as well, and am looking to learn some more pretty much all the time.
I do hobby photography. The subjects I shoot are mostly restricted to objects in nature (landscapes, flowers and animals). I shoot with a Canon EOS 7D, equipped with a Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro, Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 or a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II.
I am likely to get into religious flame wars, where I see it as my duty to protect the divine editor of Vim and the all-mighty operating system known as GNU/Linux. I also like git, but I don’t get religious about it. For several reasons, I have a distaste against some companies, mostly Apple, but at times, Sony (fun fact: I am typing this on my Sony VAIO laptop) and Microsoft. I like software to be free, as in freedom; that is what one usually calls open source (I have no “hate” against proprietary software, but I prefer open source). I dislike the GNU GPL though, as I see it as restricting your freedom too much, and thus I often use either MIT or BSD.
Politically, I am a capitalist, with a taste for great individual freedoms, something that is often referred to as “classical liberalism”. Religiously, I am agnostic; I don’t think it is possible to prove whether or not a higher power exists.
